The resistor absorbs no power, if the two modules are providing equal power
and are IN PHASE. Be careful of this last one, particularly with p-p stages,
as there are some splitter-combiners that operate differently (180 degrees,
or quadrature at microwaves).

Some alternative wideband ideas culled from professional Marine manuals are
on my web pages. Whilst a Wilkinson is usually shown as combining two units,
it and these can be configured for any number, even odd ones. The output
impedance of the transformer versions is  Zin /N , whereas Scott's lumped
component design is narrow band and does not need an output transformer when
properly designed. (i.e 50 ohm in <>50 ohm out ) It is also a lot easier to
make for 136kHz.
