Dear Uwe, LF Group,

The trade-off is that, although the bulky coil is eliminated, it is replaced with a bulky high-voltage, high current tuning capacitor. Also, much thicker antenna wire will be required to get reasonably low loss in the loop. I think if the antenna will be very close to a lot of trees, etc., the loop is worth considering because its losses are less sensitive to the surroundings, but a vertical is probably better in a reasonably "open" location.

To all ,

I would like to built a Tx antenne but with linited space I need at least a bulky 4 mh and variometer.

So I wonder if I could not use a loop antenna ( 20x 10m ) ? So I would not need such big coils ?

( high voltage vs. high current )
