signals very strong at this location. Could still be heard with 40dB attenuation
in the antenna lead. My RX set-up was a MC1496 mixer up to 7.0
MHz and then into an ICOM PCR-1000. No preamp. I used my usual LF Marconi, but
with a ferrite pot-core to resonate at 17.2 kHz.

Good reception of the SAQ broadcast a little
after 1230 utc today - the QRN level seems to be lower than it usually is when
SAQ is active, so a nice clear signal. Today's broadcast message was about
UNESCO inauguration of the site, paying tribute to EFW Alexanderson and
recognising the impact of radio communications. Hopefully, the noise will
remain low for tomorrow's broadcasts too.
