It's not entirely correct that there's zero LF activity at present.
Most weekends I put out several CQ's, if not exactly expecting a reply then at least to give the would-be LF operator something to tune in to.
I've been calling unsuccessfully this morning for ages, albeit with my humble 90 watts and 40 metre aerial !
It must be disconcerting for someone who has taken the trouble to get an LF receiver system up and running to find that there's nothing to listen to on 136 !
We must be about due for another 'activity weekend' . . .
Maybe there's a case for a 136 kHz amateur beacon or two, which could transmit for a few seconds each hour or so and would facilitate the checking of receive systems (?)
