Hello all,
I am trying to restore the LF equipment at SP5ZCC. Some dust already on
the transmitter, it's a shame, but already one year passed since our
last activity on 136kHz! Anyway, 22.01.2005 0000z - 23.01.2005 2359z
SP5ZCC will be active as HF75PZK (75th anniversary of PZK - Polish
Amateur Radio Union). The second activity is already booked for us on
12-13th of February. This callsign is activated by many hams in Poland,
each station having it's "shift".
I am doing my best to be active on LF as well, as I see that so far we
are the only station in SP able to do that (why?!). We applied for these
weekends mainly due to RTTY contests we're mad about, but there are 2
independent HF gears available at SP5ZCC + VHF/UHF/LF desk as well, so
there will be more activity than just RTTY contesting for sure.
As for the LF gear, yesterday I found that the main grounding copper
wire used for LF is missing, so I buried another one, if not those two
hours spent digging, I might have connected tried TXing yesterday
evening. Without proper grounding the antenna current is rather small...
I still didn't finish making the loop, so RX side is rather poor here
(although the 1 square meter loop almost ready, with a remotely tuned
capacitor etc.) Maybe the MV61 will appear to be better with the noisy
Marconi antenna used for reception than FT-990 + preamp I used last year.
I don't know whether conditions will allow some nice QSOs on LF as well,
as there were major CMEs last days. BTW - is there a reason that condx
on LF are in great shape just before the CME happens? I saw the message
about reception of VO1NA in QRSS3 - this is not the first time that
exceptionally good conditions happen only a few hours before the hit.
Anyway, I will post another message to the group on Friday or Saturday,
should this LF activity fail or succeed.
