Watched an excellent program on BBC2 TV tonight. A dramatic reconstruction of the first radio signals across the Atlantic by Marconi and his team. Technical details very good - the guys at the transmitting end had cotton wool in their ears to protect them from the noise caused by the arcs! A lot of problems at the receive end. The kite supporting the antenna was at 500ft and several kites were wreaked before the esential three dots were heard. Peter, G3LDO |
