The Yaesu FT-767GX does not appear to have lp filtering for medium wave band,
tunes well below the 100 K mark and is very stable. Does anyone else have
experience using this rig for LF receiving?

Hi Mike,
yes, the ft767gx is my allround-trc and lf-rx. it is used for ham-web 9k6 on
70cm, high speed qsk cw on 40m (extern keyer) etc. and for receiving purposes
on lf as well.
on lf u have to plug a 100% matched antenna. u have to measure the ant input Z
of ur 767. it is not 50 ohm (same all the other rx of other types, new or old
ones) and it is differ from qrg to qrg !
u should use the attenuator with care. it produces IMs which are not heard if
the att. is off. normally it is vice versa.
it has only a LPF from 1.9MHz down.
conc. the stability in qrg: u can`t (for example) make ARGO- or SpecLab-
screenshots. the signal traces look like "Lämmerschwänze" (in english
"lambtails" ?).
u can not read exactly the rx-qrg from the 767-display. but that is neccessary
if u want to find the emission of a announced signal (beacon) on lf or if u want
to use the 767 as part of an exciter. In that case u have to use the
substitution methode (reading the qrg from the display of a counter).
all reasons for my buying the ft1000mp.
regards
