Hello Lowfers,
just had a lengthy QSO with Ali, DF2BC, operating the special event station
DQ0KBM on Borkum Island. He already worked 22 stations today. Ali told me
that he will start LF operation tomorrow morning (Sunday, May 14, 2000) at
sunrise (whenever that is, hi). According to our experiences this might be
a good time for dx-stations, for example behind the Alps (IK, HB) to try to
work the special event station.
The other interesting event was already announced here on the reflector,
here some further details:
At 20.00 UTC tonight DQ0KBM will be QRV on 80m (QRG unknown, watch out for
the pileup) in SSB. They will prepare a traffic list. When the list is
completed, the old spark gap transmitter "KBM" will make a special
transmission around 1820 kHz (might be interesting to listen, how those old
spark gap transmitters sound). After the special transmission, DQ0KBM will
work down the traffic list to collect reception reports.
Have fun tonight, cu later
