Hi all,

A brief message to clear up the matter of carrier frequency of choice
for ZL test transmissions for stateside. Amateur access in New Zealand
is to the band 165 - 190 kHz. Most of the testing using conventional CW
takes place on 181.4 kHz. As antennas are tuned up for 181.4 kHz, then
that is the first choice transmit frequency, however we will QSY
depending on what comments we receive from Cliff K7RR and his team. We
obviously seek a "low QRM" slot for stateside attempted reception.

Bruce ZL1WB, who has an effective long wire antenna over a gully,
confirms he is available "around the clock" for transmitting on LF. The
Wellington Amateur Radio club site at Quartz Hill (call sign ZL6QH),
which is a remote site mostly used for HF DX, has recently installed a
large inverted L antenna, and it does work very nicely on LF. We can
arrange for ZL6QH to also test stateside, but not "around the clock"
like ZL1WB offers. We may select a suitable offset frequency for ZL6QH
so that test transmissions could take place simultaneously with ZL1WB.

I am in private email contact with the K7RR group to make detailed
arrangements.

Are there any other stateside west coast weak signal LF listeners?

73, Bob ZL2CA
