While the S-meter reads the value of what is passing at the time trough the
MF chain, if the noise is quite lower in respect to the signal (assuming 6
dB each S-point), the signal strength may be assumed correspondent to the
meter reading. In the case of a noise level close to the signal level, there
may be a little influence of the noise, not more than 3 dB, in reading the
real value of the signal strength, but in this case is the R part of the
report that may be lower than 5.
All that is what I think about, other suggestions ?
