Steve I think you will find 50 to 100 watts will give good comms over the first 60 or so miles and with 'arq' over a couple of hundred the deep fade pattern and high noise level , really prevent the

Some thoughts on 600 The antenna systems and power levels needed to establish communication on 600 Mtr's are considerably smaller than 2200 , the tx power levels are compatible to normal HF operation
