The frequencies will probably depend on local receiving conditions on both sides. It's quite likely that 'split' operation is best, after all, it will not matter to us if we are required to transmit on a Loran line from Lessay - Just as long as we don't have to listen on one!
I've built a few twin crystal VXO's recently.-Based on an idea by Peter G3LDO.
These are fairly stable but could be improved by using the clip-on crystal heaters as suggested by Andy G4JNT. Coverage is no problem. Even with a divide by two stage they still cover 70% of the band. You just have to calibrate them against a frequency standard. e.g. 60k and gram.
