Hi gang,

Just heard G3DXZ (RST 2-3 2 9) working G3VTT on 502kHz

Colin 'VTT was just audible but not readable by ear, weak trace on
waterfall.

G3DXZ was readable, with careful listening, between the static crashes.
It was a ragchew - with no repeats - so I missed the odd word but I'm
sure we could have exchanged name/QTH okay.

I must build a narrow audio CW filter for listening using the AR7030,
as it's IF filtering is a bit wide at 1.3kHz - not a problem for
adjacent channels, but gives a too large a noise bandwidth.

Don't know where G3DXZ is, so can't estimate distance, but nto bad for
daylight path to Shetland.

Have been copying Finbar's CW beacon too all day until he turned it off
sometime this afternoon.

Regards,

John GM4SLV

Forgot to add that Chas G3DXZ is in Retford Notts and is using a 66ft dipole at 30ft along with the CH system as a ground!
