My problem is that the attachment is on a Silver Birch tree - if they are
the same in the US as here in the UK (probably larger, hi!) that means that
they are quite strong but move about a lot - thus the suggestion of a pulley
and/or bungee/spring is a good idea. Mal and others (direct to me have
suggested marine rope, which also make sense)
The winds have reported to have gusted to around 90mph, so not as bad as you
experienced Mike.
Clearly some mechanical work to do for some of us.

academic for myself ... half an hour ago the storm has reached us here in
