I would just reformat the drive and start from scratch. You might want to
low level format the drive before doing the regular format as I have found
some drives still messed up without low level formatting first.

Subject: LF: Please help!
I am using my old Macintosh to send this appeal because my PC caught a
virus some months ago, very probably on this channel, and I cannot get rid
of it. I noted that a number of colleagues in the group also received the
bug and that they eventualy succeeded in expunging it. I have not been so
succesful. I twice swept the whole system with a four year old version of
Norton Antivirus to no avail, so last Saturday I bought a 2003 version of
Norton and twice swept the whole system with that. Alas the bug is still
there and pops up on all programs after a variable interval, sometimes
immediately after start-up but on other occasions it may delay for up to
one hour. A message appears on the screen:
Write fault error writing device AUX Abort,Retry, Ignore, Fail.
I have to crash the computer and start all over again. I dare not use it
for e-mails and that is why I have retrieved my old faithful Mac to send
this cry for help.
Please forgive me for addressing this to the whole LF group but I sincerely
hope that some of you may help an 80 year old timer who has no time for ham
radio whilst his days are spent trying to suppress this bug! - I hate
digital computers but they can be useful!
73, Roger, G2AJV.
