Ok Alan
Its been a long time since i used anything like this ! , used to watch G3SX
etching xtal's with a bath of hydrofloric acid and a bc221 , think FT840
or something like that or 480 , small unit that the front plate came off .
ive edge ground them on a finishing oil stone , never used vim , dose that
remove side bands ? :)
Any 'big' rock will do , I think I have a 500 Khz unit , which would grind
'hf' but would not like to make a mess of it , better , see if I can find
one 'in band' size is not a problem ...
Tnx - G ..

Khz ,
Hi Graham 500khz crystals are quite difficult to make and certainly you
wount fine one in a smaller package than HC6/U as far as I remember. There
are some 10X series rocks that were used in one of the frequency
calibrators
(No 10 I think) They will need chasing up a little with some "scouring
powder". I think that is probably the best bet.....good luck finding
one...... I have one but its part of my crystal collection so not for sale
:-))
I have seen 453.xx kHz crystals in HC6/U but never come across any 500kHz.
You could always put a 500kHz ceramic resonator inside an HC6/U case !!
Cheers de Alan G3NYK

Looking for 500 Khz xtal unit , any freq , inside 501 504 Khz ,
Pref round 502 KHz , fundamental, needs to be a 'big' one , for a
valve
oscillator !
I assume hc6u would be ok or bigger , these look to be the right type !
