I am delighted to report an LF crossband QSO this morning (Saturday)
with Jim (Jim on 73, me on 136). Jim was easy copy at RST 559 in a 500 Hz
bandwidth over the 170 km path. Well done, Jim!

But my first LF crossband QSO - and presumably the first G/GW LF
crossband - took place when I worked John G4GVC (140 km) last night. Noise
levels were higher last night, but John's 73 kHz signal was still a good
559 here.

I'm sure you are right that it's the first GW/G crossband QSO. Congratulations, Steve.

Back in the early days of the 73kHz band - 1997 - I made the first GW/GW crossband between my 73k portable station and the 430MHz station of my elder son, Paul 2E1DBI a few km away. I also heard G3LDO on 73k whilst portable but the return half of the QSO had to be made on a cellphone!. I believe that I am the only person to have transmitted on 73 from GW.

During the week between Easter and May Day I will be operating on 73k from West Wales, using 200W and a kite antenna. Full details to follow. I look forward to having the first 73/136k GW/GW crossband with you Steve.
