I heard this QSO but only a few letters of HB9DCE's transmission so did not bother to call. My local noise had been very low earlier but got up to S5 by the time this QSO took place. Anyone without local noise is at a great advantage - I occasionally hear the real noise floor when all of the computers and TVs are off - and I am sure that this is a major factor in how 'deaf' anyone is. In the days when local noise was significant on 73kHz - before Rugby got wide - I did a lot of portable receiving and could hear signals in the countryside several s-points below town levels.
