Yes, the S-meter in Teletron 712 has been calibrated. My friend tested it some time ago. 
The bandwidth 150Hz was used and  I could see noise value at about S3 without cw .  
My active antenna is 25m up and it is 30cm long.
VLF band was clear and opened. VLF TX from India (17.00kHz) was nice audible as well.

Whole transmission of SAQ has been recorded. Thanks to my friend Petr, OK1VEN, you can open a mp3 file at my website www.ok2bvg.cz.
