Hi Rik

Thanks for coming back to me on this.

Yes indeed, it needs good regular contributions and updates from all those interested to keep it fresh.  I think your offer of sending raw material to you for “formulation” is good.

I hear what you say about needing the source code for the programmes or the corresponding formulae.  I#m sure there are very smart people out there who would respond to a “plea for help” on these and no doubt be happy to offer their knowledge.

Certainly the “aerial modeller” is very useful.

Some coil modelling algorithm would be handy too i.e. what diameter, length, turns for a given inductance and vice versa

Do you want to keep it focused on 472khz, or would you entertain some articles on 137 and VLF?

I’m always asking G3XIZ for his advice!!!  J

Thanks again and I’ve sent in my registration to join too!

With best regards

Jim

Hello Jim,

creating online version of "vertload", "tant", ... is possible, but would require the source code of these programs or a at least good description of the formulas and procedures used. And (certainly for use of the source code) the permission of the author to translate the code to _javascript_ and/or PHP.

I have already a tab "useful links" (under "and more ..."), but it is still empty. I haven't found the time yet to look for interesting links.

So on this occasion I would invite everybody to provide me with the interesting links you would like to see there. As long as it is more or less related to 472 kHz I will be happy to add them!

And there are probably a lot of interesting topics that could be covered on the site. Just an example: How to measure  ERP (triggered by the recent question from Chris, G3XIZ).

So, if anyone has the expertise (and time) to write something about that, or any other interesting topic, please let me know! You don't have to bother about the layout and if you are not confident about your English spelling I am sure to find a native English speaker who will take care of that.

It would be nice if the 472kHz.org website could become a community project rather than a one men show.

Hi Rik

In terms of suggestions, on the already excellent tools page, would it be possible to add html version calculators of such classics as “vertload” “tant” etc.  Sadly most of these only run on 32bit versions of Windows and if one is lucky to have a 64 bit machine with W7 or higher then they don’t run.

Also a “useful files page” e.g.  Stefan has an excellent spreadsheet (which he sent to me, but it’s his work so not mine to forward) that calculates all manner of antenna and power parameters at VLF thru MF. Perhaps we could persuade “The dark lord of Heidelberg” to upload that!    Also, John and the chaps in the US have sent me some very handy schematics of how to interface Hafler audio amps to txs, again many on here will already know this stuff “inside out” but it might be useful for newcomers?

A download page giving links to Winrad and such like?

A link or page on VLF?  Dreamers band?

Given the demise of cycle 24 and predictions that C25 will be worse for higher HF bands, then this may encourage some to try their hand at the low ends!

Just a few rambling musings and it’s a great site!  Already bookmarked!!!

Cheers

Jim G7NKS

Dear all,

over the past weeks Alan, G3NYK, did write an excellent article on propagation, that is now added to the 472kHz.org website (under technical topics http://www.472khz.org/pages/technical-topics/propagation.php).

Anyone who wants to contribute in his field of expertise is most welcome. Just contact me. I will be happy to do the layout , have the grammar checked and help with pictures.

Onderwerp: 472kHz.org website

Dear all,

I have set up a small website about the 472 kHz band. The goal is:

- For newbie's: to provide some basic information about this band, in the hope that this will attact "fresh blood".

- For the habitue's: some tools that might make operating on 472 kHz more interesting (and thus increasing activity).

Feel free to have a look at http://www.472khz.org/.

All suggestions how the content of this site can be improved are welcome.
