My sons just installed the opto isolator (thanks for the advice chaps) between the R75 and the computer and we are basically back to where we should be with nearly no common mode noise  - (small hurrah!)
 
Ill have the snapper on most evenings on 137.775/781 and a bit dot 60 slow -
