Tracey, from my experience you need a lot more "power" outside. Even a bit of wind will cool down the tip of a 30 or 40W iron so that it will not even melt the solder. 73, Rik ON7YD ________________________________________ Van: [email protected] [[email protected]] namens Tracey Gardner [[email protected]] Verzonden: maandag 17 oktober 2011 12:09 Aan: [email protected] Onderwerp: LF: OT - Butane Powered Soldering Iron? My apologies for the off topic enquiry. I'm considering buying a butane powered soldering iron for use on antennas in the garden and fields. I'd be grateful for any recommendations or other comments, re soldering away from mains power, that you may have? 73s Tracey |
