Agree totally with your email about VLF and LF. This is REAL amateur radio and not black-box operating. We've all learnt a lot. Despite easy DX on 10m again this morning, I still find getting very simple QRP gear to work on VLF, LF and MF much more interesting. There is still much fro me to do and learn at the lower end of the spectrum and I shall remain active on 8, 136 and 500kHz.

Yes, happy to answer questions on my 4m QRP transverter design. It worked a few hundred km in a recent activity contest with just a dipole in the loft and should be good for some European Es DX this next few months.

I have built several 4M converters but never had luck with the TX side. The last project I had a go at was one in RadCom a year back the Converter was all Mosfet which worked really well and I still use it. The TX side however was not a sucess mainly I think down to the mixer which was a diode double balanced design that I just could get to work.

So I may try the TX part of your circuit..... I hope you are prepared to answer questions later ... hee:-))

G3XIZ continues to improve his station and has been copied at decent range on DFCW this weekend. Others, like me, are finding out more and more about through-the-ground VLF communications and are regularly copying UK and European stations on 8.97kHz by radiated DX. Certainly 10m has been very good lately, with WSPR reports from around the planet with my 5W (or less) and a small wire halo antenna. 6m and 4m Es DX is also about to start and I'm hoping for some QRP DX on 4m with my homebrew transverter. In my view it is not either/or but all and more.

Maybe it is time to abandon the lower frequencies and concentrate on the higher end like 10, 6 and 4 metres.

The results on VLF es LF es MF currently do not justify the effort, VLF acty from the UK especially poor in spite of several stations being permitted to operate on the 9 khz band.

Time for a change!!
