Hi Graham,

Not tried MF-1 yet Graham but I'm interested in trying some new weak signal modes as long as they don't require much effort to set up and run: I'm no PC genius so it needs to be easy!  Do you believe that this is the case with this mode yet? Maybe you could advise me how to set up and run this.  

BTW, -33dB S/N for 100% decode sounds like more than 3-4dB better than 
WSPR, suggesting it would be a very useful mode for my kind of 
tiny/simple/QRPp set-up - and it supports QSOs I think? 

Did you like the state-of the-art heatsink on the 136kHz TX transverter? Only had a couple of croc-clips handy but this seems to be enough to keep the IRF510 PA from getting too warm.  Yes, transverting down from 10MHz band with the 136kHz transverter and from 28MHz with the one done last year for 500kHz.

If G3XDV could 'see' your signal  for  qrss3 , its quite possible that  MF-1  would of given  a full   decode ?

(assuming  your transverting from hf for  wspr?)

s/n floor is round -33 db for  100% decode  falling to  90% at -34 , -35>-36 are  tending to 'random'

Just got my first 137.5kHz WSPR report from G6ALB in the next village 3km away. Andrew has a far from optimised set-up. So, in the last week I have been copied by 3 different stations:

G3XDV partial ID on QRSS3 at 62km,
G3XIZ - full ID on QRSS3 at 48km
G6ALB - full ID on WSPR at 3km

Although this may not sound impressive, to me it's a very encouraging start considering the station, micropower and 20m spaced earth electrode "antenna".

A picture of the QRSS3 beacon and the TX transverter used for WSPR is attached.
