..... I'm not sure , I dont think it will make enough drive on 500 .. but its a possibility ? 
its a un tuned  oscillator with a EF50  , working into a rf choke ,

Pref round 502 KHz , fundamental, needs to be a 'big' one , for a valve 
oscillator  !

I assume hc6u would be ok  or bigger , these look to  be the right type !
