After a successful weekend at the new Savill court location, the RSGB HF Convention at Windsor closed earlier this afternoon.
The LF demonstration station benefited from some heavy overnight rain and with the addition of another 80 feet to the top loading managed an improved 2.4 amps of antenna current. Early this morning M0BMU, G3YXM G3XTZ and I, tried adding an inductor in series to one of the earth radials. We hoped that resonating the radial would more accurately simulate a quarter wave counterpoise. We measured the earth current in the radial and resonating increased the figure by 300%. Sadly, the antenna current remained the same.......Oh well, more work required. Thank you to all for reports on the reflector and to the following for QSOs. G3HEJ M0BMU G3XIZ ON6ND DF0WD, F6BWO (cw + qrss), G3OLB G3FYX DF6NM (dfcw), DL3FDO (qrss), PA0SE G3XDV EI3CZ G3LDO DJ8WX DL4YHF/P and DK8KW 73 frm all. David G0MRF |
