I have put the aerial back up and made the comparison recording and
it
appears that the background is about 13dB higher here with Rubgy on.
The
"S6" CW signal is now a good deal more difficult to copy! I will send
the
recording is you need them.

Only 13dB is quite a surprise. That's about 2 S points up from the
background. Are you measuring in a reasonable bandwidth. 500Hz or above.
Apparently the output at 136kHz is only 48dB down on level at 100kHz.
Is there any sign of interference to 153 or any LF broadcaster?
