That may not work too well, if the openings are 'only' a few hours long.
The channel bandwidth is being spread to 1/(few hours) Hz and going
slower will not help. Nice to try though.
Better coding will help though. Perhaps the GPS locked BPSK that Bill
and Larry are experimenting with now will go some way towards this.
