I would add: quite easy to maintain, no custom ICs, only a few outdated parts
but still available on the market. The synthesizer is remarkably performant, and
the 3rd order IMD is in the 102-103 dB range.

Having a synthesized BFO has always been a very useful feature for me.
I use one rebuilt from scrapped parts, after having sold several tens of them in Italy.
Mine breaks down occasionally ... always repaired in a couple of hours.

The defects are there, but not a great annoyance, at least for me.
