Yes the plan is to wind smaller stacks that allow various combinations
and resonance frequencies. Also i thought about cutting the tube in the
center and to insert a blank piece of tube, so the stacks can have a
selectable spacing. This would be an advantage because letting a stack
out of the stacked stacks ( :-) ) also reduces the overall voltage
capability.
Yesterday i removed the faulty stack, the first step of the repair
process. The fault was quite in the center BTW. This can be expected
because the flux is highest in the center of the coil and so the
voltage per turn or per layer. It took me 2.5 hours to carefully remove
the wire. I will use it again for the new improved stack(s).

line in 424uHz as usual.
I did wonder if with a part of the 2kHz coil defunct and under
rewind maybe the resonance was going to be around 5kHz, pre warnings
please for any frequencies that may appear and are not currently being
grabbed.

It is a first test for a new RX stn on VLF! If the trace will become
visible, it would be a new personal distance record < 9 kHz for me

It is still to early to hope much, no GPS module is available so far.
But i can tell you i have been in contact wil RC4HAA (club station) in
LO53CF! See their grabber (running on VLF since a few days) at http://www.136.su/grabber/
A GPS module with PPS+NMEA will be available in a few days...
