Hi All,
Congrats to W4DEX for his success.
I continued monitoring with Argo using 120 second dots until 20.30 on saturday
the 1st, so well after local dusk, but saw nothing identifiable as from ZL.
The double twisted lines at 137789.90 and 137790.05 became quite strong for an
hour and a half from 18.00 till 19.30 and then faded rather abruptly although
remaining visible. With a knowledge of the message, it was clear that the
apparent dashes amongst these highly distorted lines were not from ZL6QH.
One thing has become very clear, this sort of experiment requires good
preparation, and a familiarity with the very small bit of the band that one is
monitoring, which at 120 second dots is only 1.3 Hz wide and includes no Loran
lines. So you either need a very accurate frequency standard or have got to
know what is where on the band.
