I think that was a joke.

I am running a 'not past the garden fence' test at the moment, trying to get repeatable settings with .5dB adjustable steps to set realistic signal levels comparable with those received off air here.

I am using a very stable sound card without locking, the results at 424uHz are just coming up and can be seen on my Grabber in the first window. I won't say that Opera wont handle the frequency / phase shifts but its got to be good to do it.
I have decided that PIC'ing Op4hr or building a switching interface for multiple computers is hardly worth it for a local test.

I think someone who has  a TX permit or no need for one, with a locked carrier, keyed by Opera is your best bet for some results and await being proved wrong.

Now decreasing power to see where it ends. The RX computer is connected to the PA0RDT Mini Whip, so i'ts getting lightning QRN, play station noise, vacuümcleaner noise and interference from other 8 KHz testers :-)

TX is a notebook, some wire and few 100 mWatt audio output at a open pice of wire.

This one wasn't returned as luncheon meat it didn't get there at all.

Second decode was -44dB, about 10dB / Noise in 46mHz. Signal level varied and about 20% data lost in a block, XYL re arranged the configuration of the dining table antenna, they just don't understand!

Steady carrier, that should be  one of the  advantages of Op  on  8Khz , no  real  problems with  sound card 's  and  frequency  stability !

Look's  like  you  may have  some  signals  from PA soon , not  sure  what's happened  to  all the  UK  Tx  stations , I know  there was a  problem  with  having to  inform  the  met-office  ..
