LF,
I want to keep those who are interested in the progress of the Venezuela
Grabber informed.
Since a few days, a resonated circuit on a ferrite rod is used to match
the antenna to the IC703. It looks like there is an S/N improvement of
DCF39 reception of about 10 dB! This is how the DCF plot of the last
night looks: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19882028/LF/LFplot.jpg
From the diurnal variation of the background noise it looks to me as if
there is at least room for another 6 dB improvement, i.e. the RX noise
is still dominant. Very soon, a wideband LF converter is used. All in
all it looks most promising to me that there will be chances to leave a
trace then in YV even in summer.
