Very accurate measurements had shown that Litz-Wire is better especially down at low frequencies <1 MHz. Especially MRI-builders reported positive effects. Myself I never could find a considerable difference to solid or multi strand wire. Amongst the crystal radio guys this discussion is not only a running gag, it's a running war...

Furthermore some mm of distance between the windings and the core should have a positive effect on "Q". I never checked this but I always have some layers of tape in between.
