There are two algorithms, a hard limiter (simple clipper) and a noiseblanker. Fot the clipper, the average (of the signal power) uses a simple lowpass filter with a time constant of a few seconds. I uloaded the algorithms as C / C++ sourcecodes, with a few toughts from Markus DF6NM and myself in the comment fields - this may actually be more interesting than the implementation itself (in the module noiseblanker.cpp). The zipped sourcecode archive is here:
