Chris
Thank you for the Xmas best wishes which I reciprocate.

From the quiet of my little room with nice white walls, that has plastic window pains plus very soft furnishings and piped soothing music can I just say our Ministries have a lot in common with the Vogon society. You might even say one was modelled on the other. Therefore to ask for more information over and above a simple NoV could stretch "our" obviously good relations to a point of zero cooperation. I say let sleeping dogs lie. And rejoice!

I am re-rigging my LW after the three wire top broke. It was old uncovered flex weave with several repairs. The the increase in top capacity allowed me to use the existing loading coil on 472 but now I have to make a new one. However it was a good experiment but I will not be repeating it. I now have new hard drawn copper wire and a further 20foot x 2"dia aluminium pole to increase the far end to overall 40feet thus making the LW horizontal apart from the catenary sag in the middle. I have another mixer xtal for 472/9 for the 4Watt QRP valve TX that you were able to hear audibly during our last test exercise on 501/4. If you are interested we could repeat it on the new band when I get the LW sorted?

Hi Pete,
Well, I think most of us would have spotted that number, but assumed it was just coincidence.
I do think it would actually be helpful to publish the callsigns of NoV holders. Not only would it be a good indicator of interest in the 472kHz band, but would give us a way of checking the other station actually had one!
I must admit I wasn't going to apply, after the complicated process with 500kHz, but this is so simple and straightforward I am now looking forward to getting on the band.
As for the rest of your e-mail, may I suggest a long lay down in a darkened room?
All the best to you and all LFers for Christmas and the New Year.

Chris

I will rub along with a majority view.

My statement about the number of NoVs issued was a lie, I am ashamed to say.

However Geri got the reference.
42 is the incomprehensible answer to the ultimate question of Life, The Universe and Everything which is less incomprehensible than current NoV for 630m (472/9kc/s). Another answer to the Binary string 0101010 or the answer to twice the "key of the door" but we still need a question.

Since Geri was on his way the Restaurant at the edge of the Universe after no doubt downing 6 pints of best bitter or in Geri's case 3.40957Litres of best Holstein Lager to avoid the impending approach of the Vogon destructor fleet to build a hyperspace bypass through Earth starting in the mountains of France; I thought that he may enjoy pondering this conundrum. However its all to no avail since the fleet has obviously been withdrawn. Not like the impending destructor fleet heading to the M25 in Kent.
Prostetnic Jeltz we know where you live and you don't scare us!!!
