Dear All,

A positive yes to an 80m net and from my location (middle of city)
before sunrise or after sunset for propagation reasons and generally
during the week rather than week-end because week-end activity
tends to be worse than week time domestic and industrial noise.
Morning in preference to evening because of noise from and to
neighbours TV sets. It gets worse and worse?

For what it is worth I haven't seen an amateur signal yet though I
can receive DCF39 easily and have seen (I think) both CFG and the
Greek station weakly a couple of times around 0200-0400 when
I was supposed to be asleep. The city lights produce horrendous
noise which is nearly 20dB up on the background noise before they
are switched on and after they are switched off (in the bandwidth of my loop). There is another electrical activity during this period
which switches on and off for periods of hours but usually gives
me slightly reduced noise 0200-0400. The electricity company
seems to be testing that control signal which has a 0.75s period
from time to time. Anybody know if it has a name?

As you can see I am an optimist and looking forward to relearning
my cw.

Thank you to all who have put much interesting information on the
reflector.

with best 73's, Brian CT1DRP was G3RBR

Locator: IN51QD 41N10 8W39 approx.

PS Can anybody tell me where to find the UBA monitoring
programme for download?
