Dear LF group,

I don't think it is possible for any one piece of software to be all things to all people - for the person who is trying to copy a QRSS signal, Argo is very well "tuned", but the trade-off for this specialisation and being simple to use is that it is less versatile. If you want to examine the spectrum of a different type of signal, it is better to use a program like Spectrum Lab or Spectran, where you have greater control over the parameters of the FFT and display. Having said that, I still think a signal level/SNR measurement function would be a valuable addition to Argo, even if you are only using it for QRSS. It is important to be able to get a meaningful measurement of signal strength - eg. 3dB down on yesterday, 10dB above the noise level, rather than just calling it T,M or O.

Cheers, Jim Moritz
