I was also born and bred in Geordie-land and also went to University
in Manchester, and had the same arguments!
I used to say that the south started at the M62 and the midlands
stretched from the M62 to the River Wear.
I even married a Scouser who thinks that Liverpool is in the north.....!
Of course now, EVERYTHING in the UK is "down south" for us, but she
still thinks she's a Northerner, poor lass!
