G3KEV -I could not agree more. We are very privileged to have the RSBB to guard Ham radio for us. I am doing my own ELF and LF experiments, and have found a good Tesla ELF antenna design that transmits a 1.6 Hz signal around the globe that can be seen on magnetometers. This antenna will soon be tested on Long Wave on 162 kHz, sometime after Allouis (France) has closed. I really cannot understand why Long Wave broadcasting will soon be gone in the UK with its amazing coverage. I would like to see the free access to all on the now soon to be empty Long Wave Broadcast band -as is now permitted in the USA. Could that become possible here? This would encourage much more LF experimenting, and also would be very useful when a disaster occurs. I think this is why the USA now allows this additional LW use -many interested in LF people, in known locations would be available to 'draw on' when the unthinkable occurs. Could the RSGB push this LW use for us forward here in the UK too? The USA is very very wise to now have their Hams plus all the additional LW enthusiast in place and ready for the worst!! With very kind regards to all, Dave. Maybe a Cyber attack. Communications via a third party ie Interenet, Satellites, Cell Phones etc very vulnerable. Direct communications is preferable like Amateur Radio and especially modes like CW / SSB/AM/FM. I would suggest commercial operators should have a backup system on LF/MF/HF otherwise in the event of a Big Bang Destroying the Satellite system which includes GPS navigation there would be chaos. Already cyber attacks are causing concern. The vulnerability includes Broadcasting services that are dependent on satellites and Internet. It is noticeable on HF at present some countries are back on CW and RTTY as back up, quite active at times on the radio amateur bands especially 5 Mhz. Maybe others have noticed this trend De G3KEV Sent from Mail for Windows 10 |
