Chris: Seems like I had a similar issue last fall. At the time, the Win 10 upgrade turned the internal mic back on, and the mic signals were combining with the USB sound card input. I did not lose the USB sound card connection though....I just turned the mic off and check it now and then. By the way, I saw what could have been a few light 2E0ILY traces on the waterfall the other evening around 0312, 0324, and 0336...just a dB or so shy of signal capture strength.... 73 Mike wa3tts -----Original Message----- From: Chris Wilson <[email protected]> To: rsgb_lf_group <[email protected]> Sent: Wed, May 2, 2018 5:26 am Subject: LF: For anyone on Windows 10 with a broken USB set up since MS "Upgrade" Hello LF'ers, It seems Microsoft's Spring upgrade for Win10 has caused some grief in the USB audio department and WSPR and other audio USB connected apps have stopped communicating. I avoid 10 like the plague due to updates breaking stuff and stick with Win7, but was asked to look at a friend's PC yesterday that had lost USB audio comms with WSJT-X since the auto update. I searched all over the place until I spotted this mischievous change MS added to modify his microphone setting, which may not actually be being used as a microphone in some applications of course...... Try going to settings/privacy/microphone and set it to "allow applications to access your (my?) microphone" Hope it helps, seems a lot have been caught out by this nefarious activity :) -- Best regards, Chris mailto:[email protected] |
