I would't care about that 7km, that's little more than 10 wavelengths ;-)

Also compared to the distance between us (about 1500km) it can be neglected.

Yes. The problem here is worse, as I'm further away from the center of activity (central EU) and so better Tx

is needed to reach here. last night conditions were not bad. I can easily see that when I can see the trace

of the carrier at 475.500 in the WSPR grabber

 

I do already have my Rx at my remote QTH at 7km. This is not superb Rx, but much better than my Tx site

I can also use other SDRs for Rx, but here comes the point of this to be then ....fake QSOs ?? ;-)

 

How far away from my QTH can I use an SDR for Rx in a quite site and still consider it real 2 way QSO ?

This is a "Pandora box" probably and can fire up an eternal discussion thread. Contest rules normally

state a radius of 500m from antennas to operators. But we are not in contest. My Tx is a real signal

originated at my QTH and just need to "balance" my Rx to be able to receive stations

 

In therms of FUN, it is very funny to be able to hear the stations that can hear me in central EU

I checked that during the previous CW party and it was the only way to keep calling and not fall slept

Unfortunately it is hard to explain to the other OMs that they are not really reaching my receiver and this

are just one way QSOs ...... plus the other way patched by shorter radio path and then internet

May be this can be dissapointing for those thinking that they got a real QSO

 

My humble opinion is that FUN is first. As long as you don't try to set any "first" or record or whatever other

goal other than getting some fun using radio, with the help of new technologies

 

So, don't be sourprised if I answer the calls next time. But don't ask me for QSL !! :-))))

maybe your big building is good for transmitting but not so good for receiving due to all the local noise. Setting up a remote RX at a quiet location could do miracles.

In JT9-1 mode signals can be copied down to -26dB and you peaked +1dB, so these was a margin up to 27dB (500 x power !!!).

Pity ! Could not receive anybody here. And conditions were not bad at all. I was spotting LA2XPA in WPSR at that time

 

I have been monitoring JT9 for some time now and can recall receiving you and other stations

Unfortunately Eric, ON5TA, got a problem in his PA and is QRP now

 

Anyway the downconverter is online and if there is any other chance we can try QSO
