John / Jim / Alan / LF, Many thanks for all comments and suggestions regarding my attempts at field strength measurements. Using G3NYK's spreadsheet I calculated my ERP as being 77 mW (ERP deduced from measured F/S - 40 mW) I am fortunate with the F/S measurements here as I have open, unobstructed fields to the west of me and can get away from any metal objects and trees. I stand with the meter at arms length and slowly rotate myself 360 degrees noting that I get a null and then recording the highest value. I tried a similar experiment in town last night and as Jim has experienced I had some unexpected readings along one of the roads for no apparent reason. I plan to take a large number of measurements, only in open country and hopefully any errors will be averaged out. I'll be away for a few days but will resume these experiments on my return. No doubt I'll be notified of any c--- ups in my calculations or methods - HI ! 73 Chris G3XIZ James Moritz <[email protected]> wrote:
