GREETINGS  LF GROUP.
I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO OPERATE FROM A QRN FREE SITE ON FRIDAY 5TH MARCH.
MADE SEVERAL CALLS DURING THE DAY FROM  1130 UTC ,  HOWEVER I WORKED MY FIRST LF STATION OF THE DAY  AT 1505 UTC.  HERE IS THE LIST OF STATIONS WORKED.

1505  TO 1526   G3RXH    HOWARD   QTH  SKIPTON ( HIS 2ND LF QSO)  RST 439  ME 589.
1545  TO 1550   DF3LP     PETER        QTH  KIEL   RST 429   ME 349
1556  TO 1603   DL0YE     PETER    QTH UNKNOWN.  RST 429  ME  449
1612  TO 1617  G0UPU      NO INFO                        RST 329      ME  569
1625  TO 1634  GW3XYW  STUART  QTH SWANSEA  RST 559  ME  549.

THIS OPERATION WAS WELL WORTH IT AS I MADE MY FIRST, AND THEN SECOND LF/LF
CW QSO WITH  GERMANY.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE WORKING FROM A QRN FREE SITE MAKES.
AFTER  1645  THE BAND GOT INCREASINGLY BAD FROM STATIC CRASHES AND I
HAD TO CLOSE DOWN OPEATIONS.
MY HOME QTH  NOISE PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE GOT WORSE, OVER THE WEEKEND, I
REDUCED THE SIZE OF MY ANTENNA, TO SEE IF I WAS GETTING MORE QRN FROM RUNS OF WIRE IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS.........HAD NO EFFECT.  IN FACT I SPENT THE WHOLE WEEKEND MAKING A  LAST DITCH EFFORT TO CURE THE PROBLEM,  TO NO
EFFECT.  THE FINAL RESULT WAS TO TAKE DOWN ALL THE LF ANTENNA SYSTEM.
I AM OFF THE AIR ON LF FROM MY HOME QTH, UNTIL I GET A COMPLETE CURE FOR THE NOISE, THE ONLY OPERATION I CAN MAKE NOW IS FROM THE QRN FREE SITE AT WORK,
THIS IS NOT EASY TO ARRANGE, AS YOU CAN UNDERSTAND.
JOHN /G4GVC  HAS MADE A VERY GOOD POINT ABOUT  STATIONS PUTTING OUT GOOD  SIGNALS BUT BEING UNABLE TO HEAR VERY WELL.  I CAN UNDERSTAND THIS,  AS I DEVELOPED A GOOD TRANSMIT SIGNAL BUT  IN RECENT TIMES HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO HEAR ANYTHING  ON  136 KHZ.  THERE IS NO POINT IN TRANSMITTING BLIND AND FOR LONG PERIODS IF ONE CAN NOT MONITOR  THE BAND. OTHERWISE ONE IS IN DANGER OF SPOILING IT FOR OTHERS. THIS IS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME
WHO HAS TRIED CROSSBAND WORKING TO 80M  TO OVERCOME THE QRN ON 136KHZ.
I MAY IN THE PROCESS BE BLOTTING OUT  AN  LF QSO  WITHOUT KNOWING IT.

THERE  MAY BE  A POINT IN  HAVING  LOW POWER  BEACON TYPE  TRANSMISSION'S ON THE BAND , PERHAPS  AT THE LOWER BAND EDGE.  CERTAINLY A STEADY  SIGNAL
CAN BE A GREAT AID TO TUNING UP AND  WORKING ON A RECEIVE SYSTEM.

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE LF GROUP FOR ALL THE HELP WITH MY
QRN PROBLEM.
IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE ABLE TO OPERATE  FROM  MY QRN FREE SITE  NEXT FRIDAY
12TH MARCH  ,  TIME  APPROX  1100 UTC  TO     1700 UTC, ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO ARRANGE A SKED , LET ME KNOW  PLEASE.
