I seem to have successfully added a Jason mode to the AD9850/51 DDS Module.
It certainly works from compur to computer anyway ! The DDS module is
put into Jaso mode by grounding PB2. Then it receives the native Jason
command words in the range 0 - 16 (decimal) at 9600 Baud and sets the DDS
frequency appropriately. The centre frequency used is that stored in teh
EEPROM from the normal programming. The Frequency increment (actually 8
times the increment) also has to be saved in EE prior to Jason operation.
The S/W dpes not operate as a beacon transmitter in its own right, just as
the interface between the PC and frequency source.
I may put out a low power test transmission sometime this weekend at an RF
power level in the -40dBW ERP region if anyone is interested, and other
tasks don't intervene.
