Of the four exclusion zones, three are obvious,  presumably sferics receivers spread across the UK.

Exeter - the MO itself;

Eskdalemuir,  and

Wick in the Shetlands

    are AFAIK normal monitoring points.

The remaining one is near Roseworthy, west of Camborne, Cornwall.  Wonder why that's in the exclusion zone?   Seems too close to Exeter to be useful.

This morning I received my NoV from OFCOM to operate legally around 9kHz.

Details are:

Duration:                      1 year
Frequencies allowed:   8.7kHz - 9.1kHz
Modes:                          Not specified (long periodic time modes preferred by the Met Office)
Power:                         100mW EIRP
Notification:                  Have to get Met Office written permission before operating and keep logs (to send to the Met Office)
Location:                      Home QTH or others with prior Met Office approval (4 UK locations have 4km exclusion zones)

No firm plans yet when I'll start local tests on this band, but within a couple of weeks with QRP WSPR and QRSS.

I'll put a copy of the NoV on my website in the next few hours.
