Let it be understood that "best wishes to any ham station contacted" is
default mode . Then one need send nothing unless these wishes are to be
cancelled ? The 'undo' code for that could be "37"

If one has DFCW capability, numbers such as 73 can be
transmitted in binary form. For example, a 7-bit DFCW
"word" has a range 0..127. No other CW character has as
many as 7 elements so there should be no risk of
confusing it with other characters.
-__-__- = 64 + 0 + 0 + 8 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 73
This format will only save time if the number has more than one
digit since all "normal" digits are just 5T long in DFCW mode.
Just a wild idea... :-)
