Yes, it's looking at the propagation effects that make it all worthwhile for
me. Many thanks for the explanation of what is likely to be happening. I was
using WXTrack to see the greyline position and time in relation to the QSB
on Joe's signal. Thanks for the tip about Geoclock and adding the height
effect - I'll look for this version of the program.

Spent most of the afternoon working on my antenna. Got some top guys on now
but still testing and sizing things up. It's amazing how the wind can tangle
ropes when they are hanging that far up.

If you're interested here are a couple of photos showing the general
arrangement. Currently at about 50 ft:

Graham and Mal got me thinking about adding a 10m telescopic glassfibre top
section and insulating the mast to make a vertical rather than just an
inverted L support.
