Hi all
At the end of 2003, AMSAT-France proposed to french amateurs some free
place
onboard their 2004 balloons for any scientific interesting experiences.
Two projects have been selected:
- a first payload designed par Jean-Paul F5BU consisting in a miniaturised
data logger (the purpose of which is to study long duration flights of sea
birds like albatros, as well as penguins deep divings)
- a second one, developped by Thierry Alves, which is a VLF receiver with
a
VHF or UHF radio downlink.
The first launch is planned at the end of april 2004, the second one
should
take place around november 2004.
The duration of each flight is about 3 hours, the maximum altitude should
be
around 100 000 feet.
The VLF data transmitted via a 144 MHz or a 432 MHz FM transmitter should
be
audible with radioamateur means in France, BENELUX, part of UK and
Germany,
and Switzerland.
