I have an AOR 5000A3 and have been running it on a 10 MHz
standard for a couple of years inputting a 5v p-p sinewave without trouble.
It seems to function OK down to 0.5v p-p.
But note, the 10 MHz external only drives the main
synthesizer; the BFO and sideband selection oscs are free-running so not
controlled. The audio tone produced in CW or SSB modes is
therefore not all that stable. AOR used to do a
fully controlled phase-coherent version but withdrew it for some
reason.

Subject: LF: AR5000A
Hi
all
The AOR AR5000A receiver is fitted with a 10 MHz ref.
input allowing to lock the VFOs
on an external high stability frequency source.
The user's manual doesn't give any details on
the shape (square ? sine ?) and the amplitude of the 10MHz ref.
signal to be used.
Anyone there
having any details ?
Thanks
